My name is Sarah Gawronski, and I have been working on my dream for two decades. In 2011, I received both an MA in History and an MA in English. Much time, work, and tenacity later, I received my PhD in English Literature in May 2021 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My specialization is speculative fiction and gender studies in literature. I also specialize in popular culture. My teaching repertoire is extensive: I have taught Freshman writing for nearly 15 years and both American and British surveys for over a decade. I have also designed many of my own courses, mainly around gender and speculative or apocalyptic fiction. I currently have two original projects underway for publication. My essay, “Sex and the Slayer: Sexual Liberation or Sexual Transgression in Buffy the Vampire Slayer ; A Feminist Icon Punished and Shamed by Misogyny” is under review for a McFarland collection: Toxic Masculinity in the Whedonverse. Furthermore, I am editor for a collection of Mad Max Franchise essays. You can find the CFP for that under “Extras.” Additionally, I have published many book and media reviews.
In my spare time, I enjoy tabletop gaming, Magic the Gathering, knitting, diamond art, reading for fun, and of course, snuggling with my two feline furbabies!
